FAQ

How do I upload a file to your FTP site?
First, you will need FTP software. We recommend the free software "Filezilla," which is available for both Macintosh and Windows systems. You can download Filezilla here. Using the host number, username and password provided to you by your salesperson or customer service representative, create a new FTP connection with Filezilla (or your FTP software of choice!). This will take you to our main FTP space. Before transferring a job via FTP, please remember to place your entire job into an archive file -- .ZIP if you are a Windows user, and .SIT or .SITX for Macintosh. When the transfer is finished, please contact us to let us know that you are ready for us to begin working on your job.

What is G7 and how does it affect me?
First G7 is a standard for printing that is based on a rigorous end-to-end testing and calibration regimen that helps to ensure that your jobs proof and print with an extreme degree of consistency and predictability. This affects you in that all color problems can be corrected at the proofing stage helping to keep the on-press dilemmas to a minimum and keeping your costs down. In the end it comes down to faster make readies, closer proof-to-print matches and a higher print quality. Please see our G7 page for additional information.

I have a great idea for a new print piece, but it seems pretty complicated. How can I be sure you can actually print and produce it?
We applaud your creativity! Some of the production pieces that we are the proudest of began just like this. The best thing to do at this point is to contact your Reed & Witting representative -- a true production professional -- who will help you to make sure that your great idea becomes a producible, successful piece.

Other printers can't handle my project. Can you?
Yes, we will work with you every step of the way to ensure that your project comes out the way you envisioned it. We love problem solving and desire to take the time on each project to ensure that it complexity becomes a reality.

I am an artist and have a project that needs exacting color matching, can you help me?
Yes, we can help you with your project. We have worked with many successful artists in the past with limited edition prints and also many start up artists. Now that we are a G7 Master Printer we can match your project to an even more exacting standard. Give us a call and we can set up a meeting to discuss your project in further detail.

I need to bind a very large, high-quality book. Which binding techniques can handle the job?
Although automated equipment has size limitations, it is quite possible to bind very large (and very small) books with a variety of techniques including spiral binding, double loop binding, sewn binding and case binding. The cost is likely to rise, however, because your project may require manual attention. Check with your Reed & Witting rep or give us a call to help determine which binding method is the most cost-efficient and achieves your design objectives.

My project requires lamination; can you do this for us?
Yes, we have the ability for both hot and cold lamination. For further information please contact your sales rep or call us at 412.682.1000.
